CASA-VFC is hiring for a full-time Educational & Extracurricular Support Coordinator!

JOB TITLE:  Educational & Extracurricular Support Coordinator

LOCATION:  Corvallis, OR 

STATUS: Full Time; 40 hours per week  (Non-Exempt)  (18-month grant-funded position with possible renewal)

POSITION SUMMARY:  

The position is responsible for assisting in fulfilling the CASA-VFC mission: "To ensure the best outcome and future for each abused and neglected child in Benton County, Lincoln County and beyond by training volunteers to provide advocacy, life skills, and expanding services to help kids thrive."

SPECIFIC DUTIES OF POSITION:

Educational & Extracurricular Support Coordination:

  • Assist children/youth and their families access enriching extracurricular activities & summer programming (program selection, scholarship help, etc.) 

  • Monitor each child/youth's educational progress and make needed referrals / support recommendations 

  • Collaborate with school staff, advocates, educational surrogates, and families on IEP/Behaviorial/504 Plans 

  • Develop/update Educational Surrogate and Trauma-Informed Tutor curriculum; train and support Educational Surrogates and Trauma-Informed Tutors 

  • Oversee after-school tutoring program in Advocacy Center or other agreed upon location; provide support for tutors and students 

  • Maintain frequent, consistent contact with and provide timely and thorough guidance to assigned volunteers, tutors, educational surrogate

  • Provide support and consultation to volunteers, tutors, educational surrogates related to case assignments; monitor case-related activities to ensure compliance with policies, procedures, and standards of the organization, including confidentiality, cultural competency, and self-management

  • Maintain effective coordination with the program coordinators regarding case assignments; ensuring all relevant information is shared and information is included in court/CRB reports.

  • Coordinate and/or facilitate regular in-service training opportunities for volunteers, tutors and educational surrogate, and identify and disseminate information about relevant training from community partners

  • Conduct annual review for each Advocate and other volunteer reporting

  • Assist with volunteer, tutor and educational surrogate appreciation

  • Document relevant activity, and consistently maintain case files in compliance with state and National CASA standards, including ensuring timely data entry

  • Collaborates with other staff to create and enact diverse programs with the CASA-VFC organization

  • Other duties as assigned

Program Participation:​​

  • May require periodic weekend and evening work.

  • A confident proficiency with computers and technology including Microsoft Office.

  • The ability to supervise and support volunteers.

  • The ability to work cooperatively with people from diverse backgrounds is essential.

  • The ability to work a flexible schedule in multiple locations is necessary.

  • The ability to maintain confidential information.

EDUCATION:

  • Preference for four-year degree or equivalent work experience in related field.

PREFERRED CANDIDATE:

  • Experience as a CASA Advocate or working with a CASA organization, preferred

  • Program development

  • Data collection and analysis

  • Ability to effectively research relevant topics

  • Worked in a team environment

  • Knowledgeable and passionate about the issues of child abuse/neglect and education

  • Preference given to those with child abuse, dependency system and/or education work experience.

  • A valid driver’s license and reliable vehicle is required

  • A criminal background change and DHS Abuse History will be required

  • Under the provisions of the Immigration and Reform Act of 1986, the candidate will be required to provide evidence of identity and eligibility of employment

PAY AND BENEFITS:

  • Pay: $17-$19/hour depending on experience.
