Summer Art For Kids

Kids ages 6 – 13 can join The Arts Center for arts, crafts and creativity this summer!  Sessions are led by local professional artists and educators, coordinated by trained staff of The Arts Center. ArtMaking @ Home shares fun things to make while we are staying at home being safe with our families. These FREE activities were selected because they are fun for both kids and adults, using materials we hope you have around the house.

Boys & Girls Club Summer 2021 Child Care

The Boys & Girls Club is providing Summer 2021 childcare. Visit the link above to learn more, or call (541) 757-1909 to register. The Club works closely with CASA-Voices for Children, and foster families can get a reduced-cost membership by contacting the CASA office.

Boys & Girls Club - Johnson Teen Center

The Boys & Girls Club of Corvallis is offering a FREE membership for the 2020-2021 Teen Program that serves youth in 7th-12th grade. Hours of operation are Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday from 3:00 pm – 6:00 pm, and Wednesday 12 pm – 6 pm.  A current membership is required for all participating teens. R.E.A.D. Dogs Goes Virtual!

Young readers can read online with a trained, friendly Reading Education Assistance Dog. While the library building is closed, READ Dog sessions will be offered online through GoToMeeting, a video call service that can be used on a computer, tablet, or smartphone. You can even dial in to the session through a phone line. Registration is required; visit the link above for upcoming dates and registration information.

Stay At Home Storytime with CBCPL

Join the Library's Youth Services team for new recorded storytimes every week, suitable for kids of all ages! You can view all the videos on the storytime playlist on Youtube, and subscribe to their Youtube channel to be notified when they post a new video.

Events for teens in grades 6-12 have moved online! Events will be held virtually, using GoToMeeting. Sign-ups are no longer required (unless noted otherwise below)! Their mission is ART FOR EVERYONE, and they are determined to make that happen for any and all interested in participating.

WILDLIFE REFUGES & WETLANDS PRESERVES

Birdwatching and Wildlife Observation Near Corvallis

Within a 30-mile radius of Corvallis, you'll find the William L. Finley National Wildlife Refuge, the E. E. Wilson National Wildlife Refuge, the Baskett Slough National Wildlife Refuge, the Ankeny National Wildlife Refuge, and within city limits, the Jackson-Frazier Wetlands Preserve. Jackson-Frazier is open throughout the year. A wheelchair-accessible boardwalk winds through this wetland, allowing visitors to see many plant communities and habitats! Get out into nature this summer with your kiddo(s) and see how many different plants and animals you can observe together!

Camp Wonderopolis

Hosted by the National Center for Families Learning, Camp Wonderopolis is the free online summer-learning destination that's full of fun, interactive STEM and literacy-building topics boosted by Maker experiments! Offers courses and activities in four main areas: Music, Construction and Engineering, Health and Fitness, and Science. 

Varsity Tutors - Free Virtual Summer Camps

Free half-day summer camps are a week long, with enrichment-based classes in subjects like foreign languages, chess, theater, coding, Minecraft, how to be a detective, photography and more. These live, interactive camps will be taught by expert instructors vetted through Varsity Tutors' platform.

WideOpenSchool's Virtual Summer Camps - Preschool-Grade 5

Wide Open School’s virtual camps are curated by Common Sense Media. When schools closed in March, 25 partners — including Scholastic, Khan Academy, Google, National Geographic, and many more — quickly built the site to provide learning opportunities for kids stuck at home. Now they’re providing summer learning, too. Parents can draw from the many activities available to create custom schedules for their kids using the site’s printable daily and weekly planner templates.
